There are numerous home remedies that promise you will lose large amounts of weight in a relatively short period of time.  Everything from “fat burning foods” to natural supplements have a long list of people who claim to have lost weight with these natural methods.  Another popular diet fad has been to use an apple cider vinegar diet for weight loss.  But does it work?

  • Appetite suppression:  Apple cider vinegar may act as an appetite suppressant and help you to feel full for longer periods of time.  
  • Improve glucose metabolism:  Improved glucose usage may lead to less storage of sugars by the body and perhaps eventual weight loss

People who follow this diet mix 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar with a glass of water and drinking this mixture 30 minutes before a meal.  It can be done with every meal if desired.   This may be very difficult for some people to tolerate due to the highly acidic natural of vinegar.  For this reason, people who are interested in losing weight with apple cider vinegar may want to visit their natural health food store to pick up apple cider vinegar supplements in pill form.  This may help you to overcome the unique, and often unpleasant, taste of vinegar.

Does The Apple Cider Vinegar Diet Work For Weight Loss?

Currently there is no scientific literature that backs up the numerous claims that this natural substance is the next weight loss miracle.  Research has shown that apple cider vinegar may benefit patients with diabetes and high cholesterol.  Due to these findings it is possible that apple cider vinegar may benefit you in several different ways but to use it exclusively as a weight loss tool is unlikely to help you meet your weight loss goal.  It is best to stick to old fashioned calorie reduction and exercise to burn fat, boost metabolism and lose weight.  When it comes to weight loss, apple cider vinegar is best left to dressing your low-calorie salad!
